About Associated Builders and Contractors

F
or over fifty years members of Associated Builders and Contractors have worked to connect
America's infrastructure and erect its urban landscapes as professional commercial building contractors, subcontractors and suppliers.

From modest beginnings in Baltimore in 1950, ABC has grown to 78 chapter organizations and more than 24,000 members who share a common philosophy of open shop hiring practices based on merit.

Headquartered in Washington, D.C., ABC has three primary purposes that bind together the national membership:

 - Legislative involvement on behalf of its members at the federal, state and local
     levels
 - Educational programs including the development and implementation of a world
     class crafts training program
-  Business development and networking activities.

In Oklahoma, ABC is represented by a 300- member chapter headquartered in Broken Arrow with a Branch Office situated in Oklahoma City. Founded in 1972, ABC of Oklahoma mirrors the national organization's commitment to excellence in construction through three primary avenues:

1) Attracting quality trainees to careers in the construction industry
2) Providing  lifetime training in support of those careers
3) Fostering  a merit shop environment for Oklahoma's construction industry.
