Chapter Committees & Councils

ABC "People Make The Difference"

It’s people that make ABC of Oklahoma so successful. ABC is a member-driven organization. The people working on its committees and councils are the engine that drives the Association. Involved members determine the focus of the chapter and get the most value from their membership. Listed below are the ABC of Oklahoma Committee and Council Leaders for the Tulsa area for 2001. Committees and Councils will be forming in the Oklahoma City area this year as well.

Committees are smaller groups formed for particular areas of interest and are typically task specific.
Councils
are formed for specific trade groups and are open to anyone involved with that trade’s projects and area of interest.

Current Committees

TBD, is the Chairman of the Apprenticeship Committee. The Apprenticeship Committee operates the apprenticeship program available in 17 trades. The committee develops policies, approves curriculum, qualifies applicants, identifies qualified instructors, monitors classes, evaluates performance, and encourages firms to participate in apprenticeship training.

TBD, is the Chairman of the Business Development Committee. The Business Development Committee expands merit shop construction’s market share through public relations campaigns, construction awards programs, and encourages member firms to enhance public recognition of merit shop construction.

Steve Poleman, Rich & Cartmill, Inc., is the Chairman of the Legislative Committee. The Legislative Committee works to increase ABC’s effectiveness in legislative and political affairs, reviews pending legislation and develops policy recommendations, drafts legislation, maintains communications with legislators, and works to elect pro-business legislators.

O.D. Martin, Ram Engineering & Construction, is the Chairman of the Political Action Committee (PAC). The PAC Committee works with the Legislative Committee in efforts to inform the membership of political activity affecting the construction industry. The committee also organizes and promotes political contributions from fellow ABC members and recommends disbursement of chapter PAC funds to local and state issues/candidates.

Wiley Davis, Wiley Davis Electrical, is the Chairman of the Membership Committee. The Membership Committee develops campaigns to expand the merit shop philosophy, works to increase member involvement in operation of the Chapter, and manages the ABC Beam Club to recognize those responsible for building the Association.

Larry Romondo, Oil Capital Electric, is the Chairman of the Safety Committee. The Safety Committee works to improve safety and health, monitors OSHA regulation developments and advises members, operates a safety video library, and coordinates both OSHA and First Aid training programs.

Current Councils

Clint Redwine, Magnum Construction, is the Chairman of the Construction Council. The Construction Council meets monthly scheduling speakers to inform members of anything that is beneficial to the construction community.

Pat Roderick, W W Enterprises, is the Chairman of the Electrical Council. The Electrical Council meets monthly scheduling speakers to inform members of any pending regulations/legislation affecting the electrical industry. The Council invites local inspectors, city officials and suppliers to discuss products, code changes, etc.

Kelly Littlefield, Kirby-Smith Machinery, is the Chairman of the Municipal Utility Highway Heavy Council (MUHH). The MUHH Council has regular luncheon meetings scheduling speakers from ODOT, OTA, City of Tulsa, etc. to bring members up to date on current utility, bridge or road improvements scheduled with the State of Oklahoma, City of Tulsa and surrounding areas. The Council alternates with a social every other month at a MUHH member’s facility. Members are active in issues and/or regulations that impact their industry.

The Mechanical Contractors Council is  inactive at this time.
